A sustainable medical waste management system design in the face of uncertainty and risk during COVID-19

COVID-19's developing trend has put the waste management systems of governments all over world in jeopardy. The increasing rise infectious medical now become a serious problem. This paper presents multi-period multi-objective model for designing system during COVID-19 pandemic. aims to reduce total costs while also reducing environmental impact treatment centers, disposal and transportation. It maximize suitability technology based on social considerations risk associated with processing transporting waste. Different strategic operational decisions are taken into account that include selection technologies, location flow generated between facilities, number vehicles required transport. tackles uncertainty parameters, it uses credibility-based possibilistic programming method deal uncertainties. suggested is solved using an interactive fuzzy importance indicators selecting determined best–worst approach. effectiveness demonstrated by practical case study Shiraz, Iran. numerical results can help designers achieve most suitable trade-off sustainability goals safety viewpoint.
